Clevelon’s career so far
Clevelon first attended Leicester College in 1998, where he studied Advanced Engineering.
“I wanted to get into Electronics,” said Clevelon. “After leaving college my career goals switched to IT.”
Clevelon progressed to Leicester De Montfort University, where he studied a BSc Hons in Media Technology & Information Technology. He returned to De Montfort University to do his Master’s in Information Technology.
Clevelon’s first job after achieving his Master’s was for Lantec Recruitment as an Installation Engineer. He then worked as an IT Technician for Andy’s Internet Cafe & Repair.
“My first big role in IT came when I worked at the Leicester City Council as a Computer Operator,” said Clevelon. After leaving LCC, I was working on the IT Service Desk at Capita, before becoming an Infrastructure Support Engineer.”
My highlights have been being able to keep up with the current certifications in my industry, of which there are many. Also being recognised at work for all of my hard work.”
Looking to the future
“My ultimate goal is to be a Network Security Engineer,” said Clevelon. “And eventually go back home to the Caribbean to run my own IT Consultancy firm.
Finally, we asked Clevelon if he had any advice for his fellow alumni: “Hard work and persistence is the key to success. Never give up when things seem bleak and hard, just keep pushing through.”
