Molly Smitten-Downes has always been interested in music. In 2002, she decided to study the Performing Musician Diploma course at Leicester College and has not looked back since. Molly moved to London after the course, and found success when the single she co-wrote and recorded Raindrops, was remixed by the dance artist Sash and achieved a place in the top ten of the UK music charts for three weeks. The song was also a hit in America. In 2012, Molly was awarded Best Urban/Pop Act at Live and Unsigned, and performed at numerous festivals including Sundown. In 2013, she won Best Song at the Best of British Unsigned Music Awards. In 2014, Molly performed the UK’s entry at the Eurovision Song Contest, singing her own composition “Children of the Universe” – an anthemic uplifting track that showcased her vocal ability.
